Talk Title: National Flood Forecasting and Inundation Mapping
David Maidment is a surface water hydrologist who served for 38 years on the civil engineering faculty of the University of Texas at Austin. He led the contribution of the academic community to the development of the National Water Model of the United States, now operated continuously as a part of the nation’s weather and water forecasting system. He was elected to the US National Academy of Engineering in 2016 for development of geographic information systems applied to hydrologic processes. He was born and raised in New Zealand.
